Process
While designing the park, I wanted to go for realism as much as possible. Because of this, I tried to pick ride manufacturers that fit both with the scale and price of the park as well as designs that resembled accurate ride models, for example, the B&M inverted coaster Tori was heavily inspired by Nemesis at Alton Towers. I had multiple planning and drafting phases using mainly pen and paper to design path layouts. I also conducted research into the designs of the architecture of each country.
My favorite part of the design process was paying attention to detail. Here are some of my favorite details about the park:
Within the Japan section, each attraction has a sign in front of it translating into the name of that attraction. These bold entryways give a coherent design to the entire area.
I also attempted to make the areas of the park resemble the physical land and water of their counterparts: Japan in the park is shaped like an island, Thailand has many islands, Arabia is a vast desert connected with an oasis, and Nepal is mountainous and frozen.
During the development stage of the park, I wanted to imagine a realistic timeline that could have occurred. I wanted to figure out when each attraction would have opened, what it might have replaced, and how the rides of those eras looked. For example, the park would have started without any attractions and focused entirely on the landscape and gardens. The ride Tori, dives into large pits that would have been filled with water before the attraction came to be.
